Product Description

Ozonation with catalytic oxidation is an advanced oxidation process (AOP) specifically designed for the treatment of refractory organic pollutants in wastewater. This technology enhances the oxidation capacity of ozone through the use of catalysts, improving ozone utilization efficiency and effectively removing organic contaminants that are difficult to degrade by conventional ozonation alone. It also significantly enhances the biodegradability of wastewater.

The core principle is that under the action of a catalyst, ozone reacts more strongly with organic pollutants in water, generating hydroxyl radicals (·OH), which have a high redox potential. These highly reactive radicals can non-selectively attack various organic compounds, leading to ring-opening, chain scission, or mineralization reactions - ultimately degrading the pollutants and purifying the water.

Based on the phase state of the catalyst, catalytic ozonation can be divided into two main types:

Homogeneous catalytic ozonation: utilizes metal ions dissolved in water (e.g., Fe²⁺, Mn²⁺) as catalysts;

Heterogeneous catalytic ozonation: employs solid-phase catalysts such as metals, metal oxides, or supported metal/metal oxides (e.g., TiO₂, Al₂O₃-supported catalysts).

This technology is widely applied in the treatment of high-strength, refractory organic wastewater from industries such as chemical manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, dyeing, and landfill leachate. It offers advantages including strong oxidation capability, high treatment efficiency, and no secondary pollution.
